An exercise in blending pop art storytelling with surrealism and humor, "hurting" came alive on a shoestring budget and a wonderful team of talented artists. I had a heart and mind full of animation techniques which I was excited to explore with some confusing yet beautiful imagery in the context of a dance video.
My vfx supervisor and I utilized multicamera performance capture, ragdoll AI physics simulation software, 3d head and body scanning and rigging, auto-retopolization software, fully match-moved head replacements on both actors, motion graphics, object removal, set extensions, and plenty of CG that's commonly reserved for feature film. The result is a silly and charming addition to the music video medium.
